Truly a very sad day for the Tuna Fleet. We lost a seiner yesterday , that simply put was the icon of the San Diego Tuna fleet the moment it was launched. And it was that way all the way to her end sitting in Samoa with a full load of fish. I rather remember her this way then the photos that are out now.

Evidently Jimmy the fire crews & USCG were not equipped to fight the fire & it was towed outside the harbor in Pago & set adrift still burning with it’s full load. News reports today state it sank approx. 17 miles out from American Samoa. The owner Joe Finete was the skipper of the Jeanette Diana -an old code group rig with us & part of the Cutri / Media fleet.
